How to Publish with KDP: Part Twenty-One

Hello SErs. Harmony here.  As promised, here is  part twenty-one in the post series dedicated to taking a step-by-step look at how to get your finished manuscript from your computer and on sale on Amazon in both ebook and paperback.

Sad to say, this is the final installment of the How to Publish to KDP series of posts. I have a tear in my eye as I type this:Download Crying Face Emoji Icon | Emoji Island

So, here’s Part Twenty-One: How to check your sales reports, and do lots of other cool stuff from your KDP dashboard.

First up, open your KDP dashboard, where all your books are listed.

As well as your bookshelf, you have a few options:

  • Reports
  • Community
  • Marketing

  1. Reports:

This shows by default your last 30 day’s sales and KU reads. You can choose which timeframes you want to look at.

There is also a Beta option, which takes you to a more detailed sales and KU report area, where you can see which books are active or not.

Have a play with the different options and see what you can find. You can’t break anything in this area, lols.

2. Community

This is where you can chat and ask questions of the KDP community and report any issues.

3. Marketing

This is where you can enroll a book in KDP Select if it isn’t in already. You can also run a Kindle Countdown deal from here. Or you can manage or set up your Author Central. And, finally, you can access Amazon’s marketing facility from this page too.

NOTE: For both marketing and your author central, you will need to choose which marketplace you wish target. For example, Amazon US, UK, India, Australia, etc.

To go into using Amazon marketing is beyond the scope of this series, unfortunately, and my experience is that Amazon changes this all the time. The best I can suggest is to research it at the time you want to market.

TOP TIP: You can also access the marketing options from your bookshelf by clicking on the dots to the right of your listed books. A dropdown menu will open, and you can select the ‘Promote and Advertise’ option.
