Book Review Link on Amazon

Hello, SEers John with you again. Today I want to share something I learned about creating a unique link to Amazon to help your readers locate the review section quickly.

You and I both know reviews are tough to get. Anything we can do to make the task easier for the reader is probably something we should investigate.

It is now straightforward to create direct access to your books for the purpose of a review. The reader won’t have to hunt around Amazon for your book. You can give them a link that, with one click and a sign in, they are right at the review section.

To do this, you need to start with the Amazon core link.

Amazon.com/review/create-review?&asin=

If the reader clicks on this link, it will take them to all their purchases. (They will have to sign in to their Amazon account.)

Next, add your book’s ASIN or ISBN 10 on end, so you have a link like this.

Amazon.com/review/create-review?&asin=B08GL135KQ

If you try to click on your own book’s link, Amazon will give you an error message since authors can’t review their own books.

Now that we have this link, how do we use it?

1 In your promo material, when you say, “Don’t forget to leave a review.” You can also say, “Use this review link as a short cut to the book.”

2 On Twitter, you can use the link to direct folks to your book should they want to leave a review.

3 In the back material of your book, you can leave the link with a reminder about leaving a review.

4 You can hire a skywriter to spell out the link in smoke. (You know I’m kidding, right?)

So that’s about it. Hope this little bit of advice gets you more reviews.

  12. I learned this trick years ago and never got to use it because I’m not self-published and never think to ask for reviews on social media. I thought everyone knew about this, but I see from the comments that’s not the case. So glad for everyone that you thought to talk about it here.

  18. Single most useful tidbit I’ve ever seen, John!! Seriously. I always add a Review Request at the end of my books, but this is fantastic! While they are still reeling from the powerful ending (hehe), they can click directly through to tell the world how much they loved the book. Of course, if they purely hate the ending, it will still be fresh in their minds, too, but it’s a risk I’ll take. I’m going to add this to all of my books, for sure, as soon as I grab a few extra minutes. Okay, make that some time in the next few weeks or so, but I will get it done. And I’ll definitely use them in all those other places, too. (Looking up skywriters in our area even as I type. 😀 )

    Do you know if this can be used by readers using a Kindle? I can opt to buy books on mine with a click, but my first Kindle with a keyboard gave up years ago
    I have links back to other books in the series in all mine, and I would love to add this too; the instructions are very clear.
    I believe it might work from a phone, though I’m useless with the Internet on mine.
    It would be easy for anyone reading on a laptop, but is that common?
    Sorry to bombard you with more questions, but either you know the answers and I’m missing the obvious, or someone else might have ideas.
