Friday Fiction Prompt

Happy Friday, SEers! It’s the last day of the work week (joy!) and the first Friday of April. This is the first time I get to trot out a fiction prompt on the SE blog as we all take turns with various rotating Friday topics. Rather than using a photo, I’m going to offer a word cloud and ask you to draw a single selection from it as your story prompt.

For the cloud, I chose to use words that begin with the prefix “sub,” although there are many more than what I’ve included below.

a word cloud of various words beginning with "sub"

Pick one of these, or pick your own. The only rule is that you must use your chosen word in some manner—whether in poetry, a short story, micro fic, or even a blog post that touches on the subject. Remember to link back here in the comments so everyone can see your creative genius at work. 🙂

Have fun!  If you’d like to see what word I chose to use as a story prompt, check out my short fic Dinosaur Waltz. It’s probably not about what you think. 🙂

  1. Ashamed to say I’ve just discovered (I think It’s ‘just’) Story Empire. Sounds great, Mae. I’ll be checking out posts and stories, although this month is crazy/hectic as I’m taking part in Atoz challenge too!

    • Oh, my! The A to Z is grueling. I wish you all the best and applaud you for taking it on. And we’d love to have you visit Story Empire again as time permits. It was great to find your comment here!
